NHL Free Agency 2014: Sabres sign Andrej Meszaros to a one-year deal

The Sabres have added another defenseman to the squad, as they have signed Andrej Meszaros to a one-year $4 million deal according to Darren Dreger.

Meszaros, 28, is a ten-year NHL veteran who has spent time with Ottawa, Philadelphia, Tampa Bay, and Boston. Last season he played in 52 games with the Flyers and Bruins, scoring 7 goals and 15 assists. He is coming off of a six-year deal which carried the same cap hit, $4 million.

With the signing the Sabres have added more necessary depth to the blueline, which would allow some of their young prospects to get more seasoning in Rochester. Tyler Myers, Josh Gorges, Mike Weber, and Meszaros will all start with the team barring any trades, leaving two spots for Mark Pysyk, Chad Ruhwedel, Rasmus Ristolainen, and Jake McCabe.

Tim Murray will be addressing the Buffalo media at 4:30.
