Injuries Starting to Pile Up for Sabres

Unfortunately, the injury list for the Buffalo Sabres is growing. Jacob Josefson, Josh Gorges, Zemgus Girgensons, Zach Bogosian, Justin Falk, Evan Rodrigues and Robin Lehner all missed practice today.

Lehner is the one who is likely the least to be worried about in terms of missing games. Head coach Phil Housley said the goaltender was feeling ill and sat out today. Also, according to Housley, the day to day group featured Girgensons who took a shot off the foot against Vegas on Tuesday and Gorges.

Falk, Bogosian and Josefson all feel into the week-to-week designation according to the coach. Bill Hoppe of the Times Herald reported seeing Josefson with a walking boot on his right foot.

We’ve yet to see Falk or Bogosian this season. The injury to Bogosian was first classified as day-to-day, but it appears it was worse than originally expected. There’s still no timeline on when we’ll see the defenseman return to the ice.

Lastly, we didn’t get an update on Rodrigues from his wrist/hand injury, but John Vogl of the Buffalo News indicated the speedy forward was still wearing a brace on his wrist today.

The rash of injuries has forced Sam Reinhart back to playing center on the third line today in practice and may also be an opening for Victor Antipin to return to the lineup tomorrow night against the Vancouver Canucks.
