Sabres trim training camp roster

The Buffalo Sabres didn’t waste too much time in sending 9 prospects back to the junior leagues. Even though training camp just opened and the Sabres are preparing to play their second preseason game tonight, the team moved to trim the camp roster down today.

The nine players sent back are –

Forwards:

Joseph Blandisi (Barrie, OHL)

Eric Cornel (Peterborough, OHL)

Michael Joly(Rimouski, QMJHL)

Vaclav Karabacek (Gatineau, QMJHL)

Jack Rodewald (Moose Jaw, WHL)

Defensemen:

Ryan MacKinnon(Charlottetown, QMJHL)

Brycen Martin (Swift Current, WHL)

Jared Walsh (Mississauga, OHL)

Goaltender:

Francois Brassard (Quebec, QMJHL)

2014 2nd round pick Vaclav Karabacek even played on Sunday against the Washington Capitals, with 10:55 TOI and a -1 rating on 1 shot.

Another name that could be considered a surprise on this list is Eric Cornel, who came in #24 in our recent Top 25 Under 25 review. Click here to see what we had to say about Cornel during the review.
