Jhonas Enroth earns shutout in 2-0 victory over Carolina

After being unable to score in their first pre-season game the Sabres turned things around Tuesday night, winning 2-0 with a far more veteran lineup.

The stars of the show for Buffalo were the players on the first line, Matt Moulson, Tyler Ennis, and Drew Stafford. The three combined for six points on the night. It took until half way through the second for either team to score. Stafford broke the ice for the Sabres, beating Anton Khudobin on a partial breakaway. Ennis scored seven minutes later on a shot that bounced off Jordan Staal.

Jhonas Enroth pushed aside all 35 shots on the night in his first game action of the season.

Mark Pysyk left the game with an upper body injury and did not return. Ted Nolan said that he’ll be out “a little while” in his postgame comments.

Jordan Staal also needed to be helped off the ice after suffering an apparent leg injury. He left First Niagara Center in crutches and has a broken bone in his lower leg according to the Hurricanes.

The second game was the first for many this pre-season and included the Sabres debut of Brendan Lemieux, Brian Gionta and Andrej Meszaros. With Pysyk out the defenseman were forced to put up minutes, and Meszaros played more than anyone else. He logged an impressive 29 minutes.

The Sabres have a few days off before taking on the Toronto Maple Leafs at home Friday.
