Buffalo Sabres Top 25 Under 25: #21 Casey Fitzgerald

The Top 25 Under 25 is a collaboration by members of the Die By The Blade community. It was a combination of six staff writers and over 500 readers that ranked players under the age of 25 by September 1st, 2019. Each participant used their own metric of current ability and production to rank each player.

2016 third-round pick Casey Fitzgerald finds his way back into the top 25 under 25 rankings after putting up a career low stat line. Despite the underwhelming year for Boston College, defenseman Fitzgerald’s play earned him an entry-level contract with the Sabres and he took advantage of his four games with the Rochester Americans at the end of the season.

Fitzgerald, a captain for the Eagles in his junior and senior year, has shown he is capable of responsible play at both ends of the ice and can rip some quality shots from the point from time to time. He collected three points in his four games with the Amerks, including his first professional goal.
