Sabres re-sign forward Remi Elie

The Buffalo Sabres announced Thursday afternoon that they have re-signed restricted free agent Remi Elie to a one-year deal.

Elie, 24 years old, came over to the Buffalo Sabres organization last October after being waived by the Dallas Stars.

In 16 games with the Sabres last season, Elie tallied one point (one assist) in 16 games.

After being waived in February by the Sabres, Elie was subsequently assigned to the Rochester Americans of the AHL.

From there, Elie showed some promise with 14 points (eight goals, six assists) in 25 games. Elie went scoreless in three AHL playoff games.

From the rumblings through the local hockey circuit, it seems the disagreement was purely a financial one.

Elie will provide forward depth for the Sabres organization heading into the 2019-20 NHL season, with his role currently up-in-the-air.
