Sabres Extend Power for Seven Years

On the eve of the 2023-2024 season opening for the Sabres, the team announced it has extended defenseman Owen Power for seven years. The contract extension carries an AAV of $8.35 million.

Per CapFriendly, the breakdown of the extension is as follows. The first year carries $6.35 million in salary and a $2 million signing bonus. The second through seventh years carry $8.35 million in salary. He also has a modified no-trade clause, with a five team no-trade list, in years six and seven.

For the folks at home, that’s a total value of $58,450,000 for the extension.

Power is entering the third and final year of his entry-level contract, with comes with a cap hit of $916,667. His base salary is $832,500, with a $92,500 signing bonus and maximum performance bonus of $1.85 million.
