Ryan O’Reilly returned to the Buffalo Sabres training camp yesterday with a trophy to add to his list of accomplishments. The center won the recently-concluded World Cup of Hockey with Team Canada, and though he wasn’t on any of the top lines for the tournament, his contributions were widely acknowledged.
“We counted on him for so many things last year.. I played him.. I played him too much.”
He spoke with Brian Duff for the ‘Sabres in :90’ segment about his goals for the upcoming season –

Earlier, coach Dan Bylsma talked about how important a player O’Reilly is to the side.
“Our team got smarter, it got better. It got harder-working. Our coaches got better today. When Ryan comes back, he’s that type of player.”
O’Reilly will not play tonight, but will return to the ice tomorrow and Friday nights.
