We’ve talked about the pros & cons of UFA RHDs. We’ve also talked about vet RHDs who “might” make sense in a retained-salary transaction. Connor Murphy (CHI), Risto (PHI), Josh Manson (COL), etc. And more recently, expensive rentals (e.g. Pesce).
What about a trade for someone younger/cheaper/unappreciated?
I, for one, know little about lesser-known Ds on other teams, so I’m asking for help. Not a rental, but someone who can be w/ us for a few years. Someone relatively cost-effective w/ some upside. Maybe someone on a team w/ too many RHDs. Someone who’s stuck behind vets. RFAs who might be a bit too expensive for his team to keep. Those ones. Let’s say someone we might be able to get for a FRP or equivalent, but not much more. One name that has come up is Andrew Peeke (CBJ, 25, 6-3, $2.75m, 3yrs left).
Many actually won’t be available, but that’s O.K. Real GMs get paid to deal w/ that part. This is more of a (marginally realistic?) wish list. I know Devon Toews moves are hard to pull off, but who would you target? TIA for your feedback. (thanks Murph13 for the idea!)
