Hey, everyone! Your friendly Die By The Blade Managing Editor, Chad checking in with you. It’s been nearly two months since I took over for Andy as the ME for the site. There have been some challenges and I think there have been some good things we’ve done here as well.
First off let me start by giving a stick tap to the great team of writers we have here at DBTB. Ryan Wolfe has written some great stuff and also given us a look at what is happening down in Rochester. Melissa Burgess has covered a few game previews, written some pieces on players and also has some cool things in the works. Max Marko is crushing the weekly prospect reports. If you’re not reading those when they go live you’re missing out.
Last, but not least Calvin has been a huge help with the changeover. He does a lot of behind the scenes work for the site and has been a great resource as a carry over from the previous group.
Next, let’s address the elephant in the room and get it out of the way. Yes, we missed a few game recaps early in the season. I’ll take the blame for that. The west coast trip made it hard to stay up when the day job called early the next morning, but still no excuses. As a team, we’ve got together to make sure we have coverage so we don’t miss any going forward.
Another area I wanted to touch on is the comments. I appreciate everyone keeping it clean and focusing on hockey in the comment sections. I think that makes for a better environment and conversation on the team. Also, I may not comment a lot, but I’m always watching the comments. So, if you have any issues or express a concern in the comments section I do catch it. One thing I caught was bringing back the daily links. It’s been touch and go with the off days here, but we’ll keep them coming for you.
Lastly, I turn this last part over to you, the people, DBTB is yours, none shall interfere do as you please. Ok, well that’s not entirely true. That’s just one of my favorite movie quotes from the Dark Knight, but you’ll get the point here.
In the comments below I want you to give some feedback on what you think of the site since the new team has stepped in. I’m particularly looking for feedback on game recaps and previews. Do you want to see more? Less? More info on the other team? Also, any areas you still think we’re failing to cover or are doing good in covering now.
I don’t want this to be an open forum for bashing the site, but constructive feedback is good like the fan post from ilikeEich15. At the end of the day, I want this to be a place that you the reader want to come to every day to talk about the Sabres and hockey in general.
