Josh Gorges done for the season, Zadorov suspended again

The Sabres defense has recently been ravaged by trades and injury, and today we officially found out that one of their top players will be out for the rest of the season.

Josh Gorges has played on the top pairing all of this season, has serves as an alternate captain, and has been one of the loudest anti-tank voices in the locker room all year. Between his absence and the Tyler Myers trade, the Sabres will have to lean even more heavily on Zach Bogosian to eat up big minutes, but his partner is mroe in question.

Mike Weber and Tyson Strachan are also injured right now, and Nikita Zadorov is being benched in a disciplinary move for “team reasons”, Nolan said, though he would not elaborate as to why. To fill the empty spots, the Sabres will need two from the Mark Pysyk, Chad Ruhwedel, and Jake McCabe group to be recalled from Rochester, but as of this writing they haven’t made an official announcement.

As for Gorges, his injury was specified only as “lower body”, but the team believes there’s no reason why he shouldn’t be ready for training camp next year.
