Jack Eichel Named NHL’s Third Star of the Week

For the second consecutive week, the NHL has recognized Buffalo Sabres captain Jack Eichel as the league’s third star of the week.

Eichel recorded five goals and one assist in three games over the past week, including the game-winning goal in the Sabres’ 5-2 win over the St. Louis Blues. He also recorded two goals against the Nashville Predators, and a goal and assist in the overtime loss to the Islanders.

It’s just part of his impressive play lately, as Eichel is now on a 16-game point streak, the longest by any NHL player this season. It’s also the longest point streak by a Sabres player since 2009-10 (Tim Connolly), and if he keeps this up, he may match or even break the franchise record.

It’s a well-deserved honor for the Sabres captain, who is among the best in the NHL in regards to goals, assists and points. He was also named Third Star of the Week on December 9th, after recording seven points (2-5) in four games that week.

Vegas Golden Knights forward Max Pacioretty (8 points in 4 games) and Ottawa Senators forward Anthony Duclair (6 points, including 5 goals, in 3 games) were the other stars this week.
