Casey Nelson signs two-year extension

The Buffalo Sabres have announced a two-year extension for defenseman Casey Nelson.

The extension is for a reported $1.3 million over the two years.

Nelson had been signed by Buffalo in March earlier this year, and he featured in seven games late in the 2015-16 season. Click here for a preview we did on the Mavericks defenseman at the time.

The 23-year-old got off to an explosive start with the Sabres registering points in each of his first three games. He made his team debut along with another young prospect, the highly-touted Hudson Fasching on March 26th.

With Nelson extended and Dmitri Kulikov traded for, the Sabres blueline is starting to take shape for the upcoming season, but with free agency looming in a couple of days, it would be unwise to expect no more roster changes.
