Ullmark out three to four weeks

Not only did the Buffalo Sabres lose the game last night to the Ottawa Senators, but they lost their starting goaltender in the process. Linus Ullmark fell awkwardly in the third period and needed help from his teammates to get off the ice.

This morning, the Sabres announced that the Swedish goaltender will be out three to four weeks with a lower-body injury. All things considered, that timeline is not as bad as it initially looked when he went down.

Ullmark has played well for the most part this season for the Sabres. He’s also played most of the games for the better part of two months with Carter Hutton struggling.

The Sabres recalled Jonas Johansson from the Rochester Amerks this morning to replace Ullmark while he’s on the shelf. It’ll be interesting to see how Krueger deploys Hutton and Johansson over the next few weeks. Johansson has played well in the AHL this season and was deserving of a call up at some point.

Buffalo is back in action tomorrow when they host the Montreal Canadiens.
