Sabres recall goaltender Jonas Johansson

The Buffalo Sabres announced on Wednesday morning that they have recalled goaltender Jonas Johansson from the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League.

Johansson, 24, joins the Buffalo Sabres on his first recall of his professional career.

Johansson has enjoyed a breakout season with the Rochester Americans, boasting a 13-3-3 record.

In 20 games this season, Johansson has also recorded a fourth-best .925 save percentage and a third-best 2.19 goals allowed average. Both categories are among qualifying goaltenders in the AHL.

Just two days ago, Johansson represented the Americans at the 2020 AHL All-Star Classic in Ontario, California.

This recall comes a little over 12 hours after Buffalo’s loss to the Ottawa Senators, which saw starting goaltender Linus Ullmark helped off the ice with what appeared to be a right leg injury.

News on Ullmark will be available after 12 PM on Wednesday, when the Sabres take the ice for practice.
