With the 159th pick in the 2013 NHL Draft, the Buffalo Sabres selected center Sean Malone.
Malone joins second round pick Justin Bailey as another hometown boy, hailing from West Seneca and playing for Nichols, but most recently USA Juniors. He stands 5’11”, 189 lbs, shoots lefthanded, and fits the recent Sabres mold of drafting hard working character guys who play a 200 foot game.
Malone is headed to Harvard next year, proving that he is indeed, a genius. We’ll let Kris Baker sum it up nicely:
West Seneca native Sean Malone goes to the Sabres at #159. Hard worker. Good speed. Comes back hard. Character kid. Off to Harvard. #brains
