2013 NHL Draft: Buffalo Sabres To Pick Eighth

The NHL Draft Lottery was held tonight, and when all was said and done, the Buffalo Sabres will be picking eighth in this year’s draft.

The Colorado Avalanche were the big winners, but they only moved up one spot, jumping ahead of the Florida Panthers.

At their season ending press conference today, Sabres GM Darcy Regier talked about the importance of finding star players, and how those star players usually come from very high draft picks. Unfortunately, the Sabres did not land the coveted top pick, and will have their work cut out for them if they’re planning on making a bold move and jumping in to one of the top three picks.

The official 2013 NHL Draft Order thus far determined is below:

1. Colorado

2. Florida

3. Tampa Bay

4. Nashville

5. Carolina

6. Calgary

7. Edmonton

8. Buffalo

9. New Jersey

10. Dallas

11. Philadelphia

12. Phoenix

13. Winnipeg

14. Columbus Blue Jackets
