The Buffalo Sabres might be out of the playoffs but here's your chance to go on! We're excited here at Die By The Blade to give you another chance to show off your hockey smarts. Based on the Buffalo Sabres Pick n' Mix we started during the regular season, here now is the brand new Playoffs Pick n' Mix, where you get to pick on various categories for all the playoff series starting today! Don't forget to make your bracket in the Die By The Blade Playoffs Bracket as well.
Here are the eight series that comprise the first round of the playoffs.
May1-12 - E#1 Pittsburgh Penguins vs E#8 New York Islanders
May2-12 - E#2 Montreal Canadiens vs E#7 Ottawa Senators
May2-13 - E#3 Washington Capitals vs E#6 New York Rangers
May1-13 - E#4 Boston Bruins vs E#5 Toronto Maple Leafs
Apr30-May12 - W#1 Chicago Blackhawks vs W#8 Minnesota Wild
Apr30-May12 - W#2 Anaheim Ducks vs W#7 Detroit Red Wings
May1-13 - W#3 Vancouver Canucks vs W#6 San Jose Sharks
Apr30-May13 - W#4 St. Louis Blues vs W#5 Los Angeles Kings
For each of these series, we will need you to pick -
Series winner [winner] - give the team name
Series score [score] - score of the best-of-seven series
Series top goal scorer [goals] - give the player's last name
Series top assists scorer [assists] - give the player's last name
Team with most PIMs [PIMs] - give the team name
Scoring is simple, one point for each correct answer per series, a max of five per series. In case there is more than one answer on any category, all correct answers will receive points. You can submit your picks in the comments section of this post, in the form of (for example) -
Penguins 4-1 Neal Malkin Islanders
Senators 4-2 Michalek Pacioretty Senators
.. etc
Sounds easy enough right? We'll keep updating the scoring spreadsheet as the series progress, and for the Stanley Cup Finals, we will be asking you to predict the cumulative score and the score of the series-clinching game as the tiebreaker.. more on that later.
