Zach Redmond commits to join German team next season

Reports circulated this morning that Rochester Amerks defenseman Zach Redmond has committed to join a team in the German league next season. This would end his three-year stint with Buffalo Sabres organization.

He’ll be signing a new deal to play with EHC Munchen in the German-league DEL next season.

Redmond only played three games with the Sabres in three years but he was a key contributor to the Amerks blue line. He was arguably their top defenseman and productive offensively as well. He scored at least 30 points in each of his three years with the Sabres AHL affiliate. That included a 21-goal and 50 point season in 2018-19.

The Amerks likely have at least one new defender in Mattias Samuelsson joining the club next season. It’s possible that a player like Oskari Laaksonen could come over from Finland to occupy a spot on that blue line along with the returning players.
