Zach Bogosian Nominated for King Clancy Memorial Trophy

Defenseman Zach Bogosian has been named the Buffalo Sabres nominee for the King Clancy Memorial Trophy.

The King Clancy is awarded to the NHL player who “best exemplifies leadership on and off the ice and has made a noteworthy humanitarian contribution in his community.”

Bogosian was selected as the Sabres’ nominee in part for his work through the Bogo Bunch Foundation. Through the foundation Bogosian has raised more than $100,000 for Roswell Park. The organization has also raised money for relief efforts for those affected by Hurricane Harvey.

Bogosian, along with Ryan O’Reilly, also worked together to donate a suite to each Sabres home game this season to a charitable cause. According to the team, the Sabres defenseman is also an honorable board member for the Make Lemon Aide Foundation for Cerebral Palsy.

The team has already honored Bogosian for his efforts, naming him the team’s Foundation Man of the Year.

The winner of the King Clancy Memorial Trophy will be named on June 20 at the NHL Awards, but the league will announce three finalists on April 30. Each team nominated one player.

The player who wins will receive $40,000 for the charity of his choice. Two runners-up will receive $5,000 each for the charity of their choosing.

Other nominees include Zdeno Chara, Mike Matheson, Brooks Orpik, Alex Pietrangelo and P.K. Subban.
