Top five Sabres moments for Jason Pominville

The Buffalo Sabres wrap up their home schedule tonight. Unfortunately, that also means this could be the last time we see Jason Pominville wear a Sabres sweater on home ice.

The 36-year-old is completing his 10th season with the Sabres. Sandwiched in between his time with Buffalo were a few years with the Minnesota Wild.

Pominville continued to be a productive player right until the end if this is it for him. He also had some great moments in Sabres that we’ll always look back on.

In honor of potentially his last game in Buffalo we put together a top five list of Pominville’s moments as a Sabre.

5. Named captain

In October of 2011, Pominville was named captain of the club by Lindy Ruff. The announcement came when the Sabres were overseas in Europe where they began that season.

Many believed Thomas Vanek was going to be the new captain, but Pominville become the 16th full-time captain in team history.

4. Scores twice in return to the Sabres

After being re-acquired from the Minnesota Wild in an offseason trade in the summer of 2017, Pominville made an immediate impact.

He scored twice in his first regular season game back with the Sabres against the Montreal Canadiens.

3. Two goals in his 1,001st NHL game

Pominville played his 1,000th game in Ottawa, but it was his 1,001st game a few days later in Buffalo that took the spotlight.

He scored twice and had a three point night in a 9-2 rout of the Senators.

2. Hat Trick against the Flyers in the 2006 playoffs

We all remember the 2006 playoffs and Pominville would be a big part of that run.

He started it off with a hat trick against the Philadelphia Flyers in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals.

1. Overtime and series winner against Ottawa

This one is a no-brainer to be at the top. A moment that will live in Sabres history forever.

A great Sabres career may come to an end tonight, but we may get another moment to add to the list.
