Sabres vs. Blue Jackets: How Exactly Do You Top Last Night

If the Sabres clinched the playoffs in dramatic overtime fashion the night before, does anyone honestly care about the last game of the season against a Western Conference opponent. The Sabres clinched the playoffs against the Philadelphia Flyers in dramatic fashion with a 4-3 overtime victory. Ryan Miller ended up with the win after playing the closer role for Jhonas Enroth. Enroth was pulled in the third to give the team a spark and that’s what ended up happening.

The Columbus Blue Jackets finish out their season missing the playoffs for the second season in a row, finishing near the bottom of the Western Conference with a 29-44-8 record. It should at least guarantee them a top five pick in the draft and possibly number one overall if the ping pong balls land their way.

The Sabres and Blue Jackets already met once this season back on December 3rd, a 5-0 blowout in front of the home crowd that saw a ton of Sabres scoring and bunch of penalty minutes as well. The two teams combined for 112 penalty minutes after three different fights broke out in the game. Five different Sabres scored on the night and Ryan Miller picked up the 19 save shutout.

We will be here at 6:30 with the gamethread. The game can be found on MSG and the Canadiens play Toronto tonight on Hockey Night in Canada. If the Sabres win and the Canadiens lose, its sixth place in the conference. Any other way and the Sabres are in seventh.
