Sabres at Canadiens Preview: Vanek, Gerbe Return, Stafford Scratched

The Sabres played their most exciting game of hockey since the opener in Thursday’s 5-4 shootout win against Toronto, with Steve Ott playing the unlikely hero both in the skills contest and in blowing kisses to Dion Phaneuf. Tonight, they travel to Montreal to face the second place Canadiens. With a win tonight, the Sabres pull to within two points of the eighth place playoff spot.
