Report: Sabres sign Rieder to one-year deal

The Buffalo Sabres have reportedly made their first move in free agency.

Rieder, 27, spent the entire 2019-20 NHL season with the Calgary Flames, where he amassed 10 points (four goals, six assists) in 55 games.

Throughout his NHL career, Rieder has played for four teams – the Arizona Coyotes, Los Angeles Kings, Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames.

A neat tidbit about the career of Tobias Rieder – in December 2014, Rieder set a NHL record by a first year player by scoring two short-handed goals 58 seconds apart during the same penalty kill.

Most recently, Rieder scored three shorthanded goals during the 2019-20 Stanley Cup Playoffs, tied for most short-handed goals in one playoff season.
