Dahlin named as a Calder finalist

The National Hockey League announced the three finalist for the Calder Memorials Trophy That is awarded to the roomie of the year this afternoon. Buffalo Sabres defenseman Rasmus Dahlin was among the three finalists elected.

Goaltender Jordan Binnington of the St. Louis Blues and forward Elias Pettersson of the Vancouver Canucks were the other two players named as finalists.

The big name omitted was Dallas Stars defenseman Miro Heiskanen after his stellar season.

It’s widely believed that Pettersson will take home the award this season, but Dahlin deserves to be in the final three.

He led all rookie defenseman in points with 44. He also had the second most points in a season for an 18-year-old defenseman in NHL history. Dahlin lives up to the hype as the first overall pick in the 2018 draft. He has a bright future for years on the Sabres blue line.

The Calder will be awarded at the NHL awards show in Vegas on June 19th.
