Practice Update: No Concussion For Ennis; Leino, Leopold Are Game Time Decisions

When Tyler Ennis’s head got slammed into the glass by Wayne Simmonds yesterday, and Ennis laid motionless on the ice, the first thought that went through my head was “concussion”.

Luckily, we found out today that Ennis did not, in fact, suffer a concussion, but was merely “dinged up”, according to Ron Rolston. He’s day to day, and the Sabres could be without their fourth leading goal scorer when they host the Rangers tomorrow at the FNC.

One possibility to fill in for Ennis could be Ville Leino, who participated in practice and will be a game time decision, along with Jordan Leopold, who skated as well. Leopold certainly seemed ready to play tomorrow, saying,

“I’m ready when called upon. I’m glad I didn’t say for sure I was in the lineup yesterday because I ended up not being in the lineup. The prospect looks good, but we’ll see tomorrow. I activated myself. They activated me. I’m available.”

The second power play unit featured some new faces in recent call-ups Kevin Porter and Brian Flynn. After scoring his second goal of the season last night in just his fifth game, Flynn is now tied with Drew Stafford and ahead of Mikhail Grigorenko and Marcus Foligno in the goal scoring department. The Sabres still sit dead last in the NHL with the man advantage, so maybe some former Amerks can bring some punch to a punch-less power play.

The Sabres take on the New York Rangers tomorrow night at 7:00pm here in Buffalo.
