On the twelfth day of Christmas..

You’ve all heard “The Twelve Days of Christmas“, an English Christmas carol that’s been around for a couple of centuries now. We finish off our series with a Rick Jeanneret themed version of this classic song.

12. The holiest of all the Holy Grails – A Stanley Cup, and then a couple more.

The Buffalo Sabres are yet to win the highest honor of them all in the sport of hockey, Lord Stanley’s Cup. It was the sole purpose of the existence of the Sabres when Terry Pegula bought the franchise.

While times have gotten worse since that purchase, there does appear to be a highly-anticipated dawn on the horizon with the new core of Jack Eichel, Rasmus Ristolainen and more.

The two Finals appearances of ‘74-’75 and ‘98-’99 and the Conference Finals losses of ‘97-’98, ‘05-’06 and ‘06-’07 remain the highest peaks achieved by the team.

So with our last wish of the twelve, we ask Santa Claus (or the powers that may be) for just one Stanley Cup to begin with, and some more not so far behind.
