NHL Playoffs Open Thread – 4/28/16 & 4/29/16

The NHL Playoffs Round One is over, and surprise surprise, three of the heavily-tipped Western Conference perennial contenders are enjoying golf vacations – the Los Angeles Kings, Chicago Blackhawks and Anaheim Ducks are all out. Joining them from the East are the Florida Panthers, who had a great opportunity to supplement their meager ticket sales by going far in the playoffs, but it won’t be this year.

4/29/16

Two Western Conference series kick off tonight – the St. Louis Blues are at the Dallas Stars at 8pm EST (NBCSN, CBC, TVAS), and then at 10:30pm (NBCSN, CBC, TVAS), it’s puck drop as the Nashville Predators are at well-rested San Jose Sharks who last played exactly a week ago.

The New York Islanders, who knocked out the aforementioned Panthers, started off last night with another upset at another Florida team, beating the Tampa Bay Lightning handily. Tonight at 8pm EST (NBCSN, CBC, TVAS) the Pittsburgh Penguins are at the top-seeded Washington Capitals to start off that series.
