NHL Playoffs Open Thread 4/19/2016

It’ll be another busy night in the NHL with four playoff games on ice tonight. Probably will not be as eventful as last night though, with the bad-tempered game in Philadelphia taking center stage. After starting off the night with a beautiful tribute to the late Ed Snider, owner of the Flyers, and an early goal, the night quickly went south for the home team. Penalty after penalty, followed by fans tastelessly throwing commemorative bracelets onto the ice, and even having the PA announcer plead for ‘some class’, resulted in a 6-1 win for the Caps, and what is looking like an insurmountable lead for Washington, currently at 3-0.

The other two games of the night were pretty anticlimactic after that fiasco, with the Wild roaring back on home ice to make the series Stars 2, Minny 1. Finally, the Kings outlasted the home team in San Jose, winning in overtime to pull within one game of the Sharks.

Tonight the Lightning are at the Red Wings, leading that series 2-1 with puck drop at 7:00pm EST. The Penguins take on the Rangers also at the same time, with the series tied at 1-1 and in New York for the next two games.

The Blues are leading the Blackhawks 2-1, and are in Chicago for Game 4 at 9:30pm EST. Finally, the Ducks are in Nashville to play the Predators who lead the series 2-0. There was thought around the league that Anaheim had peaked too soon during their epic run to the playoffs, and those voices are getting louder. We’ll see tonight, join us in the comments for a chat!
