Grading the Buffalo Sabres – Week ending 12/11/16

EDIT: Apologies for the inconsistency in posting the results from previous weeks – here is the LINK to the spreadsheet with all this season’s results. I will make it a part of every grades post going forward – sorry about that folks.

—————

This was not a good week for the Buffalo Sabres, as they ran into the Washington Capitals twice and both times lost in very different circumstances. The first game in the nation’s capital was frittered away after 45 minutes of great effort, and then a combination of puck luck and horrendous naivete combined for an ugly loss at home on Friday.

In between the two though was a fun game against the Edmonton Oilers where the Sabres had thrown away a lead after a strong first period, before mounting a furious comeback late in the game and then sealing the win in overtime.

As always, we’ve got all the forwards and defensemen who played over the past week in the grading.

We’re sticking with the Corsi For % as well the stats beyond just the goals, assists and +/-. For Dan Bylsma we’ve added the team’s overall Corsi For % as a measurable stat.

Rate the player PP, PK and coach’s performances for these games –

Washington Capitals 3-2 Buffalo Sabres (OT)

Buffalo Sabres 4-3 Edmonton Oilers (OT)

Buffalo Sabres 1-4 Washington Capitals
