Game Thread: More Cuts & Preseason Action
Sabres, Penguins square off again Tuesday night
The Buffalo Sabres look to follow up on Monday night’s loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets in their penultimate preseason game on Tuesday evening against the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Sabres found themselves down by four goals at one point and managed to rally back a bit, but it was ultimately too little, too late as they fell 5-3.
Before we get into the details of Tuesday night’s game, a few roster notes. The Sabres have made another round of roster cuts, sending forwards Matej Pekar, Ryan MacInnis, Sean Malone & Linus Weissbach, defenseman Oskari Laaksonen and goaltender Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen to the Rochester Americans.
The Amerks opened their training camp with physicals on Monday, with the first round of on-ice sessions Tuesday. Here’s their full camp roster as it stands now:
Forwards (13): Lukas Craggs, Dominic Franco, Brent Gates, Mason Jobst, Graham Knott, Ryan MacInnis, Sean Malone, Michael Mersch, Matej Pekar, Patrick Polino, Ryan Scarfo, Brendan Warren, Linus Weissbach
Defensemen (6): Nick Boka, Matthew Cairns, Mitch Eliot, Oskari Laaksonen, Josh Teves, Peter Tischke
