What to Watch
1. Massive Lineup Changes
Phil Housley threw his forward lines and defense pairs into a blender prior to tonight’s game with the Wild. The most significant move was breaking up the top line of Jeff Skinner, Jack Eichel, and Sam Reinhart. Each will be on their own line in an attempt to spread out the scoring.
2. Now or Never
After getting blown out in their first game of a seven-game home stand last Friday by the Chicago Blackhawks, the Sabres need to start stringing wins together now. Thankfully, the Columbus Blue Jackets are doing their best to keep teams like the Sabres in the playoff race. If they can’t pull it together over the next two to three weeks, they’ll find themselves out of the playoff picture.
3. Ullmark or Hutton?
It’ll be interesting to see who gets the crease for the Sabres tonight. Conventional wisdom tells you that Linus Ullmark will be between the pipes. However, Housley could choose to go back to Carter Hutton to see if he can get him playing well again.
