DBTB Open Thread – Week of 12/7

Here’s an open thread for discussing all matters Buffalo Sabres and NHL related for this week. Of course, you can talk about anything else you like too.

The NHL and the players’ association NHLPA met twice over the weekend to discuss when the new season can start, with a mid-January date being bandied about. It looks like both sides have decided to forego any talks regarding finances for now, and are only discussing the schedule for the 2020-21 season, with the goal that the 2021-22 season should start at the regular time in October.

Other hockey sources are reporting that a 56-game abbreviated schedule has been discussed, as well as a divisional realignment that will have all the Canadian teams in one division to overcome the challenges of cross-border movement under COVID restrictions. The Seattle Kraken will be ready for the 2021-22 season no matter what happens

Excellent story here on Jack Eichel, thank you newmarketguy for this.

Feel free to add any links to developing news items as the week goes on in the comments below.
