Tonight we found out that Connor McDavid, uber-prospect of the century, Lord of the 2015 NHL Draft and Savior of the Depressed Masses, is human after all.
McDavid suffered a hand injury tonight after a fight with Bryson Cianfrone and was rushed to a local hospital for x-rays. While he held his own in the fight, McDavid accidentally punched the glass after whiffing with the right hand, and it turns out that tempered glass > hand.
It’s feared by the Erie Otters and all hockey-loving peoples that McDavid’s injury could be serious, and might cause him to miss significant time, including the upcoming World Junior Championships.
However, this injury will have zero impact on his draft status, it merely deprives all of us from seeing new, ridiculous McDavid highlights like this one or this one. Unless Jack Eichel scores 30 goals this season in the NCAA, expect to hear McDavid’s name #1 overall next June.
Until then, we’ll wait to hear just how serious this hand injury is, and will update this post as soon as we know.
