Avalanche have their way with the Sabres

Final: Avalanche 6, Sabres 1

Shots: Avalanche 27 | Sabres 24

Sabres Goal Scorers: Reinhart (19)

Avalanche Goal Scorers: Girard (2), Burakovsky (17), Kadri (18), Zadorov (4), Nichushkin (9), and Rantanen (17)

Minus 1 – Goaltending

It was a rough night for Carter Hutton in goal. The Colorado Avalanche controlled most of the game in terms of possession, but the Sabres were not giving up a lot of quality chances against. Hutton surrendered five goals in a period and a half. He was pulled in the middle of the second period in favor of Jonas Johansson, which was his NHL debut. When Hutton departed, he gave up five goals on an expected goals against rating of 0.83 according to Natural Stat Trick.

Not good.

Plus 1 – One Less Game

The Sabres were shorthanded with illness and injury going into last night. However, I don’t think it would have made much of a difference. I don’t know what else to take from this game besides a far superior team had their way with a lesser team.

One less game for us to watch this season as we had down an all to familiar path.
