Zach Bogosian activated off IR; Tennyson assigned to Amerks

As expected the Buffalo Sabres activated defenseman Zach Bogosian off of injured reserve today. He’ll make his season debut tonight when they take on the Vegas Golden Knights.

Bogosian last played in a game on January 9, against the Winnipeg Jets. He’s been out recovering from hip surgery and another lower-body injury suffered in the preseason.

In order to make room on the roster the Sabres assigned defenseman Matt Tennyson to the Rochester Americans of the AHL. The 28-year-old veteran can be assigned directly to the Amerks. He recently cleared waivers in the 30-day window the NHL allows for players to be assigned to the AHL before requiring the waiver process again.

Bogosian will play with Nathan Beaulieu on the third pair tonight against Vegas. We’ll see how slowly head coach Phil Housley works the 28-year-old defender into the game. The hope is he’ll bring more stability to a blue line that has had some struggles at times this season.
