Sabres Won’t Qualify Lehner, Antipin, Wilson

The Buffalo Sabres will not extend qualifying offers to goaltender Robin Lehner, defenseman Victor Antipin and forward Scott Wilson.

The news regarding Lehner came a few days ago, when it was announced that the team would not be giving him an offer. The 26-year-old spent two seasons in Buffalo. This past season, he appeared in 53 games, including starting 50. He went 14-26-9 with a .908 save percentage and 3.01 GAA.

Going forward, the Sabres will pick up a goaltender over the offseason to pair with Linus Ullmark, who will likely be in the NHL full-time.

Antipin was perhaps the most questionable of the three in regards to his future. At times, it seemed like he would head back to the KHL, which is certainly a possibility now that he won’t be qualified.

The 25-year-old saw limited ice time last season, often spending more time in the press box. He appeared in 47 games for the Sabres, notching 10 assists and accruing a minus-9 rating.

It was his first NHL season.

Wilson, 26, split last season between Buffalo and Detroit. He also played briefly with Pittsburgh.

In 49 games with the Sabres, he put up 14 points, including eight assists, and was a minus-17.

He could be back with Buffalo, as the team could sign him after July 1, avoiding arbitration.
