Sabres waive John Gilmour and activate Zach Bogosian

The Buffalo Sabres announced this morning that they’ve placed defenseman John Gilmour on waivers for assignment to the Rochester Americans of the AHL. In a corresponding move, they’ve activated veteran defender Zach Bogosian off of injured reserve.

Gilmour played four games with the Sabres this season and played well in the games he was given an opportunity. If he clears waivers, he’ll be a nice boost to the Amerks blue line in the AHL.

After hip surgery this summer and a set back, Bogosian is finally healthy enough to play. It’ll be interesting to see what the Sabres do now with another defender in the mix for playing time. We’ve heard the rumors about Jason Botteril searching diligently for forward help, but it’s to the point now where the abundance on the blue line is becoming a problem.

The Sabres are not scheduled to practice today, but will tomorrow in Florida as they prepare for back to back games against the Panthers and Lightning.
