A few notes about tonight’s matchup:

– The lineup for the Sabres is heavy with veteran players, now that many of their youngsters have been sent to Rochester, but young guns Mikhail Grigorenko and Sam Reinhart will get one more chance to impress the coaching staff tonight. Both are playing with talented wingers, though Reinhart will likely see the better matchups on the third line. Let’s see what they can do tonight.

– With Mike Weber having another awful preseason, Jake McCabe, Nikita Zadorov and Tyson Strachan will get one more chance to convince the coaches that one of them might be more useful than the Tank Commander. The losers of that 4-way battle will be headed to juniors or the AHL.

Jhonas Enroth pitched a shutout the last time he was in the crease – can he repeat tonight? Or will he leave the door open for Neuvirth in the final game?

– For those hoping to see the Caps stars, Alexander Ovechkin and Niklas Backstrom did not make the trip to Buffalo and will not play tonight.
