Olofsson does not get nominated as a Calder finalist

The NHL announced the three finalists for the Calder Trophy (rookie of the year) as voted upon by the professional hockey writers association. Buffalo Sabres winger Victor Olofsson was not among them.

The three finalists are Quinn Hughes of the Vancouver Canucks, Cale Makar of the Colorado Avalanche, and Dominik Kubalik of the Chicago Blackhawks.

While Olofsson had an argument to be a finalist with a strong rookie campaign in the NHL scoring 20 goals and 42 points in 54 games. His ankle injury likely kept him out of any real consideration. Honestly, like Kubalik, his age should have kept him out of consideration as well. We’ll save that for another day.

The real player that was snubbed in this was Adam Fox of the New York Rangers. He should have been in the final three over Kubalik, in my opinion. I also believe he has a legitimate argument to win the award as well.
