Sabres trade Matt Moulson and Cody McCormick to Minnesota

The Sabres have reportedly sent Matt Moulson and Cody McCormick to the Minnesota Wild in exchange for Torrey Mitchell and two second round picks. According to John Vogl the picks are in 2014 and 2016.

Moulson had been acquired from the New York Islanders in the Thomas Vanek deal and was the biggest UFA name left for Tim Murray to move. Moulson played 44 games for the Sabres, scoring 11 goals and 18 assists. McCormick has been with the Sabres organization since 2010. He’s played 29 games with the Sabres this season, scoring one goal and four assists.

Mitchell, a center, has scored one goal and eight assists for the Minnesota Wild this season. He is under contract through 2015. The position of the draft picks are not yet known.
