Sabres trade Jamie McGinn to Anaheim for conditional pick

Just as it appeared the Sabres weren’t going to make any moves, a Jamie McGinn trade was announced nearly 50 minutes after the deadline came to a close. McGinn is heading to a playoff contender in Anaheim for a conditional pick according to Pierre LeBrun. The pick is a third that could become a second if the Ducks win two playoff series and McGinn plays in half those games according to Bob McKenzie.

McGinn has 14 goals and 13 assists in 63 games this season. The Sabres acquired him at the draft last season as part of the Ryan O’Reilly trade with the Colorado Avalanche. He’s an unrestricted free agent this summer.

It wasn’t the most memorable run in the world, but McGinn was a solid player for the few months he was with the Sabres. He scored when few others could, and had many hoping Tim Murray would lock him up with a new deal. So, thanks for the memories Jamie. Good luck with the Ducks, and maybe we’ll see you again some day.
