Sabres Sign Victor Olofsson to an Entry-Level Contract

The Buffalo Sabres announced they’ve come to terms on a two-year entry-level contract with forward Victor Olofsson. The 22-year-old was selected in the Seventh Round (181st overall) of the 2014 NHL Draft by the Sabres.

He’s coming over to North America next season after playing three seasons in the Swedish elite league, the last two of which were with Frolunda in the SHL.

Olofsson was a hot prospect to watch throughout the season, finishing top of the scorers charts with 27 goals. The forward registered a total of 43 points in 50 games for Frolunda, who were eliminated at the quarter final stage of the SHL playoffs.

If the two sides didn’t come to a contract agreement by June 1, Olofsson would have become an unrestricted free agent. Luckily, this scenario is one fans no longer need to concern themselves with.

The 22-year-old will very likely start next season with the Rochester Americans in the AHL. Although he was a very good goal scorer in Sweden, he only projects out as a bottom six forward who can provide scoring depth at the NHL level.
