Sabres sign Linus Ullmark to two-year extension

The Buffalo Sabres announced today that they have re-signed goaltender Linus Ullmark to a two-year contract, for a total of $1.5 million.

This deal would seem to indicate that Ullmark will be the Sabres backup goaltender next year after having himself a nice season down in Rochester. That is, of course, if he isn’t taken in the expansion draft by the Las Vegas Golden Knights.

Ullmark was an RFA, so his signing of the contract or not really has no bearing on his expansion draft status, other than the fact that Vegas now knows exactly how much he would cost, should they decide to take him.

If they don’t, though, it seems that Buffalo has their backup goaltender situation settled for the next two years at a cap hit of $750,000.
