Buffalo Sabres Select Ethan Miedema

With the 109th overall selection in the 2023 NHL Draft, the Buffalo Sabres picked up forward Ethan Miedema. Miedema, 18, is a native of Cobourg, Ontario who split last season between the OHL’s Windsor Spitfires and Kingston Frontenacs.

Miedema, a left-winger, is 6’4″ and 207 pounds. In 36 games with Windsor last season, he had 31 points, including 20 assists. He also had 21 points in 32 games with Kingston.

He was ranked #50th among North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting, #98th by The Hockey News, and #84 by TSN’s Bob McKenzie.

DBTB reader bdn00707 had Miedema going with pick #92 to Boston:

“Was once traded for Shane Wright. 6’4″ power forward. Bruins first pick of the draft gets them a tantalizing future battering ram in the forward line. Shows good enough hands and shot for a future NHL player.”
