Sabres announce Rookie Development Camp dates

Every summer, the NHL Draft gives fans of all teams a chance to dream of future glory, but often times the players picked won’t actually see NHL ice time for a long while. Luckily, Buffalo Sabres fans will have a chance to see all of the team’s recent draftees in just a few weeks.

The Sabres Rookie Development Camp will take place from July 6-12, and will feature many if not all of the players drafted by Buffalo over the past three years, as well as some undrafted camp invites. The camp always features an intra-squad Blue and Gold scrimmage, which will take place on July 9, and for the first time this year, the entire development camp will take place at HARBORCENTER.

There will be approximately 40 players there, and all of the team’s 2016 draftees are slated to attend. Fans can also see how prospects like Brendan Guhle, Will Borgen, and Eric Cornel look after another season of seasoning. Technically Jack Eichel and Sam Reinhart are eligible to attend, but I’m not sure if the Sabres will have them at camp.

Details aside from the dates and locations are sparse at this time, but we’ll certainly know more after the draft wraps up and free agency begins. For those of you in Buffalo, are you planning on attending? If you don’t live in WNY, is there a prospect or two you’re keeping an eye out for?
