Buffalo Sabres Return Lawrence Pilut to AHL

The Buffalo Sabres have assigned defenseman Lawrence Pilut to the Rochester Americans, the team announced Friday afternoon.

The Amerks are off on Friday, but return to action on Saturday as they visit the Syracuse Crunch for a 7 p.m. faceoff. They’ll be back home at Blue Cross Arena for a 3:05 p.m. game Sunday against the Utica Comets.

Meanwhile, the Sabres are inactive until Sunday night, when they host the Toronto Maple Leafs. It’s unclear at this point whether Pilut will be recalled again before Sunday’s game or not.

The 24-year-old has been a healthy scratch in the last two games for the Sabres. His last game with the team was February 9 against Anaheim, when he played 10:59.
