Sabres release their training camp roster

The hockey season is so close that you can almost taste it. Believe it or not in less than a week the Buffalo Sabres will open their preseason schedule against the Columbus Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena.

Players will officially report on Thursday and have their first practices Friday morning. Today, the Sabres released their training camp roster consisting of 51 players.

Matej Pekar (2018 fourth round pick) and Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen (2017 second round pick) are junior-level invites that will be on the ice Friday morning. We’ll see how long both stick around before they’re returned to their respective junior teams.

As expected, jettisoned forward Matt Moulson is not listed on the training camp roster. Indicating he’ll likely play another season for the Ontario Reign of the AHL as he plays out the final year of his contract with the Sabres.

It should be a competitive camp this season with a few roster spots upon at forward and on defense.
