Sabres Recall Nick Baptiste

The Buffalo Sabres announced this morning they’ve recalled forward Nick Baptiste from the Rochester Amerks for the second time this season.

Baptiste hasn’t been playing his best hockey as of late with Amerks. On the season he has seven goals and 17 points in 34 games. After Brendan Guhle and Linus Ullmark got a look last week, it appears the Sabres may be rotating players in and out to see about future potential.

The 22-year-old winger has played four games with the Sabres this season but didn’t record any points before being sent back down. In 18 career NHL games, the former third-round pick has three goals and four points.

We’ll see what if he gets a chance to play in a good situation or limited role. The Sabres could use his speed in the lineup and any threat of goal scoring is a welcome addition as well.

They return to action tomorrow in a matinee with the Dallas Stars at home.

UPDATE: Kyle Okposo did not practice today. Phil Housley said it was a maintenance day for him, but other forwards are banged up too. He’s unsure if Baptiste will play tomorrow.
