Sabres Extend Point Streak with Win over New Jersey

Score: Sabres 5 | Devils 3

Shots: BUF 18 | NY 30

Sabres Goals: Rasmus Asplund (4), Brandon Montour (5), Rasmus Dahlin (3), Casey Mittelstadt (4), Rasmus Ristolainen (4)

Rangers Goals: Damon Severson (3), Jesper Bratt (5), Pavel Zacha (8)

Plus – 1 | Production

The Sabres got goals from five different players in Tuesday’s win, and nine different Buffalo players recorded at least a point. It’s refreshing to see some different players step up, including continued heightened play from Mittelstadt and offensive output from Dahlin. In a game where Buffalo rolled with 11 forwards and 7 defensemen, it’s good to see that they were not only able to produce offensively, but enough so to capture a victory.

Mittlestadt is now on a four-game point streak of his own, with two goals and two assists. Montour, meanwhile, has recorded four goals in his last five games.

Plus – 2 | Goaltending

Linus Ullmark continues to showcase his worth, making several smart saves in the win. Here’s just one example:

Plus – 3 | Another Win, Another Point

The Sabres are now on a five-game point streak, which may not seem like anything extraordinary, but given their struggles this season…. it’s something. This is actually their second five-game point streak of the season, matching the one from January 22 – 30. After a lengthy string of losses, it’s refreshing to be able to write about a victory once in a while here.

As we go forward in the next few days, there are a handful of things for Sabres fans to keep an eye on. Taylor Hall was scratched on Tuesday; although no deal is believed to be imminent, he was held out on precaution in case a trade comes along. Of course, Hall could be moved, or he could not be. Other players could be on the move, too. We’ll have to wait and see what Kevyn Adams pulls off in the coming days. Artuu Ruotsalainen is also with the Sabres, but unfortunately wasn’t in the game roster on Tuesday night. Perhaps his time will come in the team’s next game against these same Devils on Thursday night at KeyBank Center.
